Well, I have to say this winter is just flying by and I think I’ve felt the cold sting of winter 5 times, all of them to go to the car and then to the hospital. This is my third admission at Health Sciences Centre. This time it’s a possible infection from the second biliary drain that was inserted to help divert the poisonous bile to the outside of my body.
The first two admissions I stayed at GH-3 (both times in room 33). Apparently they got to know me quite well, as I was admitted this time to GH-5. Someone must have caught wind of this and they ended up moving me back to GH-3, this time to a semi-private room in a quieter section of this ward. I now know what it feels like to be Norm from Cheers. Even though it’s not the most comfortable place, the nurses and staff here go out of their way to make sure I’m comfortable. I don’t like the thought of this being a home away from home, but when you have little choice in the matter, it’s nice to know you have a team who has your back.
